History of creation
The idea to create an association of parents arose back in 2010 at the first seminar on autism in Kherson. The emblem for the program was drawn by 10-year-old Sasha Avdeeva – a girl with autism. But for a long time we existed as an initiative group of parents. We organized workshops, excursions, leisure activities and holidays for our children. The first exhibition of drawings by Oleksandra Avdeeva, a girl with autism, was organized in Kherson. In the future, our activities expanded, adaptive sports groups, an inclusive theater and a puppet theater, a radio broadcasting studio, classes in the children’s library and the Art Museum began to be organized. In 2020, we have already organized a major exhibition of six young people with autism at the Art Museum.
The activity of the initiative group expanded. There was a need to officially register. Then, in 2021, the NGO “Autism. A Unique Universe” appeared
Team
Currently, the NGO “Autism. A Unique Universe” unites 20 families raising teenagers or young people with autism and Down syndrome. The head of the board is Maryna Avdeeva. But we make all decisions jointly, according to democratic principles. There are no certain positions in our organization, we do the necessary work one at a time according to the principle: whoever has the time, opportunity and inspiration, he gets down to business. Periodically, and recently more often, members of our team undergo various educational trainings, courses to acquire useful knowledge and skills, which are necessary for the stability and development of the organization.
